Introducing the Pilot Blog

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a full year since the inception of Pilot. We’ve grown from a single experimental regressor with over 50% error to an ensemble of sophisticated models that are more than twice as accurate. We’ve managed to build out a comprehensive social media analysis pipeline that parses hundreds of thousands of posts to provide granular marketing insights to our clients.

We’re proud to be pioneers in the entertainment technology space. With the world’s first Entertainment Forecast Intelligence (EFI) and Audience Relationship Management (ARM) software on our platform, we hope to forever change the nature of data analysis in entertainment.

As our data science team continues to make great strides, we often discover interesting things about the movie industry that we’d like to share. These discoveries aren’t necessarily built into new features or incorporated into one of our models, but we feel that they’re nevertheless important to discuss. They might range from analyses of race and gender in Hollywood to graphs of genre-specific revenue trends over time.

Over the course of the coming year, we’d like to establish this blog as a place to share these insights and provoke discussion. Above all, we want to challenge ourselves and the rest of the film industry to examine data in novel ways.

Thanks for all of your support.

The Pilot Team
